August, 2003

August 1st, 2003, 5:03 p.m. - Ding, dong, the bells are gonna chime...

The wedding's tomorrow! In some ways it came quickly and in some ways it snuck up on me. I'm very excited for Cara and Pat and I know that everything will go well. I still can't believe that one of my friends is getting married! It seems like we're so young, but we're 21. That's not really all that young.

I'm looking forward to the wedding, both because, well, I'm happy about it, and because I'll get to see some people I haven't seen for awhile. Hope everyone can make it all right!

August 2nd, 2003, 4:22 p.m. - Got me to the church (well, boat) on time

Back from the wedding! It was very nice - beautiful and very romantic. Pat and Cara looked very happy. Everyone seemed to have a good time at the reception and I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen for awhile. We're going out tonight, too. Congratulations to Cara and Pat!!!

August 6th, 2003, 11:02 p.m. - Where did the time go?

I go back to school in two weeks. What the--?

I just have to say that I can't stand those Gap commercials with Madonna and Missy Elliot. They make me want to defenestrate my TV.

August 9th, 2003, 7:41 p.m. - Mmm

I had Thai iced tea today and now I'm all happy.

August 10th, 2003, 8:00 p.m. - Why, oh, why didn't my parents name me Clementine?

Oh, for the love of...

from namestatistics.com:
Jennifer is the #6 most common female name. 0.932% of females in the US are named Jennifer. Around 1,188,300 US females are named Jennifer!

Michelle is the #21 most common female name. 0.519% of females in the US are named Michelle. Around 661,725 US females are named Michelle!

And my last name was too rare to turn up any statistics. I'm changing my name!

August 13th, 2003, 5:28 p.m. - New thing

One week till I go back to school. And I'm a senior. Wha?

I'm going to start doing the Friday Five, since I don't always have something interesting to say, and this will help with that. So, it's Wednesday, but who cares? Here's my first:

1. What's the last place you traveled to, outside your own home state/country? Delaware. Exciting, huh? Before that I went to Kentucky. Try to contain your enthusiasm. But the last time I was out of the country I went to London, and that was pretty fun.

2. What's the most bizarre/unusual thing that's ever happened to you while traveling? My dad left something in the trunk of a cab in New York City and never got it back. Our train tickets were in it, too.

3. If you could take off to anywhere, money and time being no object, where would you go? I've wanted to go to Australia for awhile, so I think I'd head there.

4. Do you prefer traveling by plane, train or car? Car, usually. I don't like flying that much - it's too stressful. I like trains, too, but I've only taken one train trip and it wasn't all that exciting.

5. What's the next place on your list to visit? Pennsylvania, for school. :) After that, who knows?

August 15th, 2003, 11:44 a.m. - Ahhh

I got the day off! Woo hoo!

Friday Five:

1. How much time do you spend online each day? Too much! I blame Buffy Trivia.

2. What is your browser homepage set to? Heh. Buffy Trivia. It used to be set to Hotmail, but I never get any email.

3. Do you use any instant messaging programs? If so, which one(s)? AIM. I have it on all the time but I don't talk to a lot of people. We're pretty anti-social. :)

4. Where was your first webpage located? Spree. Stupid webiste. I love Angelfire! I have more megabites than I know what to do with!

5. How long have you had your current website? I started a page at spree in the spring of 2001, then revamped the whole thing during the summer. Spree shut down in September or October of 2001 and I moved to Angelfire, my true love.

5:09 p.m. - Credit rating

I can't stop laughing about this. I currently have 113 credits, and up until recently only needed 14 more to graduate. I can't graduate a semester early, which definitely would have been possible, but one of the courses I need for my major is only offered in the spring and I haven't taken it yet. I just found out that now we only need 121 credits to graduate, rather than 127! I'm going to graduate with 16 more credits than I need! That's an entire semester. Sigh. It would be kind of sad if it weren't so hilarious.

August 16th, 2003, 2:42 p.m. - Pro and con

Top 5 things I'll miss when I go back to school:
1. Having my own bathroom
2. Air conditioning
3. A really big room
4. Not having to pay to do laundry
5. Not having to do schoolwork, of course

Top 5 things I'm looking forward to when I go back to school:
1. Seeing my friends, of course
2. Not having any classes before 11:30
3. Only taking 12 credits
4. Being on a worship team again
5. Always having people around to hang out with

Questions?
LUNCH 12:15-1:00

Worship team planning meetings/practice - 1:30-4:30

Okay, here's what I have to say.
1. The voice and instrumentalists' clinics are really good ideas.
2. Thanks for telling me when to eat dinner. I might have forgotten.
3. Micro-managing much?
4. "Team-building activities"? Will we have to figure out how to get 8 people on one chair, or how to get across the room without touching the ground? These "activities" sound suspiciously like "summer camp color group activities". Which, sadly, we had to do freshman year. Please. (Actually, though, this is less micro-managing than the first week of freshman year, when our schedules actually let us know when we had "free time" and gave us helpful suggestions for what we could do - decorate our room, bond with our roommates, etc. So thank goodness for small blessings, eh?)

August 18th, 2003, 11:51 p.m. - Bye bye, kiddies!

Tomorrow is my last day of work. It's both happy and sad at the same time. I can't decide which it's more of. :)

August 19th, 2003, 3:36 p.m. - Mixed emotions

This time tomorrow, I'll be back at school!

August 22nd, 2003, 6:02 p.m. - Life in the Eastern bubble

I have been completely out of everything the past 2 days because the school's network hasn't been working (possible virus) and hasn't been fixed yet. (I'm in the computer lab right now; for some reason the Internet works here but not in the dorms.) I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever be fixed....

Anyway, I've been in meeting after meeting and workshop after workshop and haven't had a lot of downtime anyway. But I've been hanging out a lot with the other worship team members (who are all really cool) and am generally having a good time. (The team building activities actually turned out to be really great.) My room is hot but the window fan is extremely helpful. It's a lot better than last year when my room was hot all the time.

Oh, and hey, I'm right on time for the Friday Five:

1. When was the last time you laughed? About half an hour ago, at dinner. Actually, I was just laughing at something on TWoP about two minutes ago.

2. Who was the last person you had an argument with? We had some argument-like discussions at the workshops today and yesterday, so I guess those count.

3. Who was the last person you emailed? I'm about to email my parents so they know I'm still alive.

4. When was the last time you bathed? This morning.

5. What was the last thing you ate? Pears.

August 24th, 2003, 5:44 p.m. - Grrrr

Yeah. I still don't have Internet access in my room. Bleh.

August 28th, 2003, 12:09 p.m. - Getting my hopes up

Looks like we should have Internet access back in our dorm rooms on Saturday. I'm hoping. Please?

It's the second day of classes and I've already had one cancelled. Nice!

August 29th, 2003, 2:07 p.m. - School daze

Friday Five:

1. Are you going to school this year? Yep. I'm actually at school right now.

2. If yes, where are you going (high school, college, etc.)? If no, when did you graduate? Eastern University.

3. What are/were your favorite school subjects? English, which is why I'm an English major. (I'm only taking one English-related course this semester, though.)

4. What are/were your least favorite school subjects? Science. Couldn't stand it. (Sorry, Cousin of Mina!)

5. Have you ever had a favorite teacher? Why was he/she a favorite? Like almost everyone else at my high school, my favorite teacher was Mr. Marino, my theater teacher/choir and play director. He was just all-around awesome. Runners up would be Ms. Hawkesworth (history; had her in both 9th and 12th grades) and Ms. Biggers (Spanish my junior year). My favorite professors are Dr. Morgan (English), Prof. Brink (poli sci), and Prof. Froehlich (psychology).

August 29th, 2003, 1:27 p.m. - Isn't this just a comment on modern technology and culture?

Still don't have Internet access in my room. May not have it until Tuesday. Those of us still without it (there aren't many of us) are really ticked off. This is getting ridiculous.
