August, 2023

August 5th, 2023, 4:31 p.m. - Silence is golden

32. True Biz (Sara Nović)
I don't know what was up with that ending, but the rest was good. This would be a good book for a club or class discussion. Maybe they could figure out...you know, what was up with that ending.

Up next: The Only Survivors (Megan Miranda)

August 11th, 2023, 7:52 p.m. - I was this close to giving up on Miranda forever, and then...

33. The Only Survivors (Megan Miranda)
Apparently the key to me liking one of Miranda's books is her writing a plot that moves backwards. This was a little slow in parts – too many characters and too much focus on them that turned out not to really be necessary – but it's one of Miranda's best.

Up next: Blood Will Tell (Heather Chavez)

August 18th, 2023, 8:37 p.m. - I've once again found a new author I'll be looking out for in the future

34. Blood Will Tell (Heather Chavez)
Slow in the middle but otherwise solid. I like how Chavez writes dialogue, one of the things that's most important to me in a novel.

Up next: Before She Finds Me (Heather Chavez)

August 26th, 2023, 11:43 a.m. - So that squirrelly vibe I got from [redacted] at one point was a red herring? Huh

35. Before She Finds Me (Heather Chavez)
I would love a sequel to this. Actually, make it a whole series starring Ren. I'll read every book in it.

Up next: Mister Magic (Kiersten White)
