I predicted all of what I assume were supposed to be the three big twists in this book, and I can't even be proud of myself because they seemed so obvious. I am not impressed.
This was really interesting, but it felt kind of thin in places. I would have liked more examples of how people have been manipulated by language. Maybe I just thought this was going to be different than it turned out to be.
I wanted so badly to like this, given how much I loved The Quiet Tenant and how great Michallon's writing is. But this was just...nothing. You have two murders and don't give us any suspects? There was no mystery!
I wanted so badly to like this, too, since I enjoyed Hall's last book about a PI. But there was too much going on without enough information to figure it all out. And then at the last minute there's a dumb twist, and unanswered questions, and then all of a sudden, it ends with another twist? No. I don't think I'll be reading more in this new series.
