February, 2025

February 6th, 2025, 8:39 p.m. - Why did it suddenly turn into Forrest Gump?

5. All the Colors of the Dark (Chris Whitaker)
Excellent beginning and strong ending, but the middle...wow. Such a mess. This was at least 250 pages too long.

Up next: The Last One at the Wedding (Jason Rekulak)

February 13th, 2025, 6:40 p.m. - Shut up, Tammy

6. The Last One at the Wedding (Jason Rekulak)
No one in this book behaved like a normal person. Too many annoying characters + ridiculous reactions + the big stuff happening "off-screen" = I got nothing out of this book. P.S. Because it can't be said enough, SHUT UP, TAMMY.

Up next: The Beauty in Breaking (Michele Harper)

February 17th, 2025, 7:56 p.m. - Just imagine a COVID-era follow-up

7. The Beauty in Breaking (Michele Harper)
Harper is a great writer, especially for someone whose education was all about medicine. I really appreciated her insight into medicine, the health-care system, and how many obstacles providers have to deal with on a daily basis. I just wish she'd written more about patient care. I feel like there was a lot more she could have said in certain areas, but she glossed over them.

Up next: Vantage Point (Sara Sligar)

February 25th, 2025, 4:58 p.m. - April is the cruelest month

8. Vantage Point (Sara Sligar)
I felt like this book didn't know what it was supposed to be. It was set up like a thriller, but it wasn't one. The ending qualified for that, but it just came out of nowhere. All the flashbacks didn't really contribute to the story. I'm not sure what Sligar's intention was here.

Up next: A Serial Killer's Guide to Marriage (Asia Mackay)
