I'm already working on getting some stuff together for my dorm room. I found some really cute sheets at Delia's and am trying to decide whether I can fit my inflatable chair into my room. I want to have a cool room. It's just something that I'd like. I have a single again, so I can do whatever I want to the room without worrying that my roommate won't like it. I want people to come into my room and say, "Wow! This is cool!" I want my room to reflect my personality - comfortable and functional (because I like to be comfortable and survive on mostly the basics) but colorful, creative, original, and maybe a little wacky. I think, if I may psychoanalyze myself, I want a room that people will want to hang out in. Or maybe I just want conversation starters - interesting stuff that people will comment on and that will lead to other conversations. I don't know, I just like cute stuff that most people don't have. I like to be original, so why not have an original room?

I realized for the first time today that, no matter how many times I tried to convince myself I was over a guy I've had a crush on for awhile, I'm definitely not. I've been trying to let go of it because he's engaged and we're never going to be in each other's lives other than passing acquaintances, but it's really hard to do that. I've liked him for so long that to stop liking him is almost impossible. And I tried to tell myself to stop but it doesn't quite work like that. The heart wants what it wants. Sigh.

I can't believe I'm already going back to school in a month! Where did the summer go??
July 26th, 2003, 4:12 p.m. - Two for one
Happy Birthday, Erin! Happy Birthday, Jenny!
Spent part of the afternoon shopping for a wedding present for Cara and Pat (one week till their wedding!) and stuff for my dorm room (less than a month till I go back to school!). I liked the chenille blanket I bought for Cara's wedding shower so much that I bought one for myself. :) It's the softest thing I've ever felt. I also got new sheets (my flannel ones + no air conditioning = bad idea) and a couple of other things. I'm going to have to stop buying stuff because I won't have room for it!
July 27th, 2003, 9:01 p.m. - Friends are friendly
Cara's my first high school friend to get married (6 days and counting...) so I think I need a Wedding Countdown. (This is all so exciting! I think I might be a little too excited, actually.) So here's today: I ran out this afternoon and bought stuff for the last minute bachelorette party (tomorrow night). Yeah, that was really...interesting.

Oh, yeah, how could I forget? You know what the best remedy for a should-be-over crush is? Finding a new crush. And that's all you're getting from me. :)

Continuing the countdown - the bachelorette party was tonight. Drinking games are fun without alcohol. :) (Actually, we were playing "Never Have I Ever" and I haven't done anything, so even if I'd had alcohol I wouldn't have gotten drunk.)
July 30th, 2003, 5:47 p.m. - Preparations
The countdown continues - Beppe and I are heading out in a couple of hours to shop for the wedding. Well, she's buying a dress; I already have one, but I might get a new one because I mostly have skirts and I'm getting tired of only wearing them. It seems like all of the girls going to the wedding have waited until the last minute to get dresses. We're only 21; we don't go to a whole lot of weddings. I guess I'm the exception, since this will be my third wedding in 9 months. But I was a bridesmaid in the other two, so I didn't have to worry about what to wear.

Didn't find anything. We'll try again tomorrow.
