July, 2024

July 7th, 2024, 12:39 p.m. - That ending might be the biggest twist I read all year

27. Darling Girls (Sally Hepworth)
I didn't expect Hepworth to ever write anything I would be interested in. I stand incredibly corrected.

Up next: The Return of Ellie Black (Emiko Jean)

July 14th, 2024, 2:23 p.m. - A twist so good, I said, "WHAT?" out loud when I read it

28. The Return of Ellie Black (Emiko Jean)
I liked this a lot but was disappointed that the identities of the kidnappers were so easy to figure out. Then Jean hit me with a twist I never would have guessed. Well done, Jean.

Up next: The Last Murder at the End of the World (Stuart Turton)

July 22nd, 2024, 5:41 p.m. - I figured some stuff out and I'm really proud of myself

29. The Last Murder at the End of the World (Stuart Turton)
This was so much less complicated and frustating than The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. You may not have lost me forever, Turton!

Up next: Tell Me Who You Are (Louisa Luna)

July 28th, 2024, 12:07 p.m. - Dr. Strange, indeed

30. Tell Me Who You Are (Louisa Luna)
This is how you write an unreliable narrator. I'll have to try Luna's previous books; her writing is really compelling. I was hesitant going into this because a review I read said some people hated it, and its ratings weren't great, but I was sucked in right from the beginning and was eager to keep going.

Up next: Missing White Woman (Kellye Garrett)
