I start work tomorrow; I'm spending three weeks basically taking preschoolers on field trips. The bad news is that I work from 9 to 12, so I have to get up early, but the good news is that I'm getting $7 an hour to do it. This should be interesting....
June 3rd, 2002, 4:57 p.m. - Kiddies!
The program I'm working with is a little different than I thought it would be; I thought we were taking more field trips than we're actually going to be taking. We're doing crafts and music and stuff like that as well as field trips to the library, the police station, the post office, a farm, and possible the Duck Pin bowling alley (fingers crossed!). Also, there are two groups of kids instead of one--one group comes in MWF and the other comes in TR. We had 22 kids today, but they were surprisingly good kids. I thought they would be out of control and that we would have a lot of problems (especially since there are only two teachers) but they really surprised me.

I survived my first week of work (hooray!) and tomorrow I'm going to the beach with my family for a week (another hooray!). My brother Kevin and his wife Patty are coming for the weekend, and then my brother Paul and his girlfriend Claire (who by then will possibly be his fiancée...) are coming for the week. Hope it's a good trip.

I managed to run a little early this morning, which was nice after yesterday's near-disaster. Anyway, I get to take 20 kids to a farm tomorrow. Yay?

Happy last day of spring!
The highlight of my day? Watching turkeys get it on at the farm.
I was wrong; the first line of "Hero" is "I am so high, I can hear Heaven". Still strange but not quite as strange as I thought it was.

Happy first day of summer!
I may get to keep my job (which was only supposed to last a month) for the rest of the summer, which would be great. Nothing's certain yet, but there's a possibility I'll have this steady income. Plus, a lot of the kids are staying for second and third session, which means I get to hang out with them a little longer.
June 22nd, 2002, 5:46 p.m. - Stupid school
I've been fined $5 by Eastern, most likely because SOMEONE (cough cough Megan cough) didn't help clean the bathroom all semester and probably didn't clean before she left for the summer. I'll have to talk to Dawn and Rachel and Erin and see if they got fines, too. Grrrrr.

I found a copy of the DVD on half.com for $45.75 (including shipping). The list price is $69.96, so woo-hoo!
June 26th, 2002, 1:24 p.m. - More happiness
Stacy got me a raise today, and I didn't even ask for it. Instead of $7 an hour I'll be getting $9 an hour. Go Stacy!
8:36 p.m. - Patience
I'm almost done with the first part of The Emperor of Ocean Park. It's a very good book--extremely well-written--and I highly recommend it but it takes a lot of patience and I'm taking FOREVER to get through it. 12 pages to Part Two; then I'll feel like I've actually accomplished something.

I'm not going to mention that I was outbowled by 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds today. I'm not going to mention that I failed to break 100 even with the help of bumpers. I'm not going to mention that two 4-year-olds and one 3-year-old all broke 100. I'm not going to mention that my second spare came with the help of a 16-month-old. I'm not going to...dang it!
