June, 2004

June 2nd, 2004, 12:36 a.m. - Odds and ends

Things that make me happy right now:
1. The new David Sedaris book
2. Angel DVDs
3. The absolutely perfect weather
4. My family's upcoming vacation (woo, Delaware, woo)

Things that make me sad/angry/annoyed right now:
1. The mosquitos that have colonized in my room and claimed it in the name of Mosquitoville
2. The resulting itchiness

June 4th, 2004, 11:34 p.m. - We are family

Tomorrow morning I head to the beach with my family for a week. You haven't lived until you've spent a full week with my family.

June 13th, 2004, 8:56 p.m. - Oh, yeah. I'm back

And this time...it's personal.

June 14th, 2004, 11:02 p.m. - And baby makes...me cry

Dear Hollywood celebrities,

Please stop. Right now.

The next one of you who gives your child a name that no self-respecting sane human being would ever even consider naming a child, I hereby have permission to beat you senseless, tie you to a chair, and recondition you until the only names you can think of are John and Anne.

Please, stop giving your children embarassing, laughable, Congress-should-make-a-law-about-this names. No more Coco. No more Banjo. No more Inspektor. No more Audio. And, for the love of all things holy, NO MORE APPLE. Think of all of the nice, normal names out there. Matthew. Joshua. Michael. Emily. Sarah. Rachel. What's wrong with those? Nothing, that's what. The question is, what's wrong with you?

Sincerely,
Jenn (see, I have a normal name, and I turned out just fine)

June 17th, 2004, 12:41 p.m. - Why not?

I thought this might be an interesting thing to get involved in. I don't have anything else to do anyway.

June 19th, 2004, 3:48 p.m. - A secret no more

I wasn't aware that no one had actually heard of Metroblogging (which I mentioned in my last post) until a few days ago, so here's the official shout-out: Metroblogging was created by two guys named Sean Bonner and Jason DeFillippo for New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago. 10-20 people post in the same blog about stuff going on in their cities. They're trying to get some other cities off the ground, including D.C. My "application" has been accepted, and as soon as some other D.C. bloggers sign up, I'll be a Metroblogger! I'll post the url as soon as I know what it is.

June 20th, 2004, 2:32 p.m. - What, you thought I was done talking about Metroblogging?

The blog's not up yet, but here's my bio.

June 21st, 2004, 12:06 p.m. - Now entering the working force...

I have my very first job interview tomorrow afternoon. It's with Platinum Promotions, which promotes events for a bunch of different companies and is becoming one of the frontrunners in the business. They work with both Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. Oh, did I mention that my interview is with the president of the company? Are they trying to scare me off or something?

June 23rd, 2004, 9:57 p.m. - ...Or, you know, just kidding

My first interview went well, and I was asked back to shadow someone for the day, which I did today. I decided during that time that this job isn't for me, so I'm going to turn it down. So, in the past four days, I've applied for a job, had two interviews, and turned it down. Wheeeee!

June 27th, 2004, 2:26 p.m. - Just wondering...

If a guy's mother tells your mother, "My son's kind of shy," does that mean anything?
