June, 2024

June 8th, 2024, 2:18 p.m. - I wish I hadn't waited so long to read this

23. The 22 Murders of Madison May (Max Barry)
Barry, write some more books. BARRY, WRITE SOME MORE BOOKS.

Up next: Long Time Gone (Charlie Donlea)

June 15th, 2024, 12:01 p.m. - SAY "BAKER JAUNCEY" ONE MORE TIME. I DARE YOU

24. Long Time Gone (Charlie Donlea)
Donlea must think his readers are idiots. He recaps the plot at least six times, and it's not that difficult to grasp in the first place. He also has a case of keeps-reusing-people's-full-names so bad, he needs hospitalization.

Up next: Cuckoo (Gretchen Felker-Martin)

June 23rd, 2024, 1:00 p.m. - Went full out for Pride Month

25. Cuckoo (Gretchen Felker-Martin)
This was pretty graphic for my tastes, but I really like Felker-Martin's writing. I may read the next one she has coming out; she has a great grasp on horror tropes, and I'm always looking for a good horror book.

Up next: How to Solve Your Own Murder (Kristen Perrin)

June 30th, 2024, 4:31 p.m. - "Well, if TV has taught us anything, it's that the murder rate in small villages is disproportionately high"

26. How to Solve Your Own Murder (Kristen Perrin)
A satisfying, entertaining mystery (two, really) that I felt introduced just enough clues to solve without making it seem dumbed-down. Perrin is a great writer, and I look forward to more in this series.

Up next: Darling Girls (Sally Hepworth)
