Up next: The Death of Us (Abigail Dean)
Some pacing issues near the end, and the whole book/meta thing made me roll my eyes, but I really liked this. Schwab is great at building magical worlds.
Ritter's writing is so self-assured and polished that I still can't believe it's not her main profession. There were a couple of twists that I felt were weak, but a couple others were so good, they made up for it.
This was...okay. The premise was intriguing, and it started out strong, but it all fell flat for me. And it winds up cheesy, with awful dialogue.
I didn't feel like there were enough clues in this for the reader to put everything together. There were also too many secrets floating around and too many people to keep track of. I'll still read Finlay's books, but he's on thin ice. (More Bob will help in the future.)
