May, 2003

May 1st, 2003, 12:50 a.m. - Yay!

5 days till I go home! 9 days till my birthday! Woo and hoo!

May 2nd, 2003, 2:38 p.m. - Oh, yeah, finals! Why didn't you just let me die?

I had two exams today. I don't want to talk about it.

Okay, they weren't THAT bad. But they weren't great. Not wonderful. Whatever, my grades will be fine.

8 days till my birthday! (Get used to the countdown, by the way.)

May 3rd, 2003, 1:03 a.m. - Still with the countdown...

Heh. Check that out above.

One week till my birthday!

May 5th, 2003, 11:36 p.m. - Yikes

I get to go home tomorrow!!! And in case you couldn't tell, I'm very excited about that.

It's hard to believe that my third year of college is already over. It went so fast! I can't believe I'm going to be a senior next year. That's a little scary....

May 6th, 2003, 11:10 p.m. - Getting closer...

HOME!!!

4 days till my birthday....

May 8th, 2003, 2:58 p.m. - My weird family, again

More wacky family email fun. The background on this is that my father asked my brother Kevin to recommend a lawn care service and instead of giving the number of the service Kevin gave him his own number.

From: A concerned citizen

Re.: Ethical breach

Yesterday, on the recommendation of your magazine, I contacted Agro-Lawn Systems about providing lawn care services for our home. To my shock and disappointment I discovered that Agro-Lawn is apparently owned by Kevin B., your magazine's managing editor. This is obviously a major breach of ethics. I demand that Mr. B. be strongly punished. A proper response might be for Mr. B. to make a healthy contribution to his father's retirement fund.

from my brother
Dear Mr. B.:

We've reviewed and considered your complaint and have filed it away in a circular file cabinet that is emptied once per day by our custodial staff. Should you have any further concerns, please contact me directly at [our home phone number].

Yours truly,

Robert Krughoff
President

Expect to hear from my lawyer, Jackie Chiles.

(This would probably be funnier if my dad hadn't had to ask me the name of the lawyer on Seinfeld who was a take-off on Johnny Cochran.)

from my brother
Sue all you want: on the advice of our attorneys, we've decided that any testimony we'll give for now on will start with: "Well, you have to keep in mind that I was pretty drunk at the time, so I don't really remember what happened, but..."

May 9th, 2003, 2:41 p.m. - It's almost that time again

Guess whose birthday is tomorrow? That's right, mine! I might have forgotten if Beppe hadn't called me and said, "Guess what? Your birthday's tomorrow!" :)

May 10th, 2003, 12:18 a.m. - Revolve yourself out of my light

It's someone's birthday and her name is Jenn.

21, baby!

May 12th, 2003, 12:32 p.m. - I heart my Buffy buddy

No, Kari and I aren't crazy. Why do you ask?

alaythia star: hey...can you do me the biggest favor in the world?!?!?
luckyjenpc: um...does it involve selling my soul?
alaythia star: umm...no, not this time
luckyjenpc: ok, then, sure
alaythia star: though I don't think I properly thanked you for the last time you sold your soul for me

May 13th, 2003, 11:09 p.m. - All put back together

I finally got my tooth fixed! It's weird to have it in one piece again. I'm lucky they could fix it, since it wasn't something they could fill. Anyway, I don't think you can even tell there was ever anything wrong with it.

May 19th, 2003, 1:40 p.m. - I'm a dork

Is it weird that I can't wait to start work?

May 20th, 2003, 12:38 a.m. - This is the end...my only friend, the end...

In about 19 and a half hours, the last ever episode of Buffy will air. And there was much weeping. Boo hoo!

I'm not sure who created this, but it was a banner ad on TWoP and I just had to put it up here. Big props to whoever made it!

I need a hug

For non-Buffy fans, or for those who don't get it, I'll explain:
"Xander" on a hammer - Xander's a construction worker.
"Buffy" on an umbrella - in "The Prom" Buffy receives a golden umbrella "Class Protector" award. I cry every time I see that scene. Yeah, I'm a dork, I know.
"Willow" on a pez witch - in "Lovers Walk" Oz gives Willow a pez witch, since she's a practicing Wicca. Very cute scene.
"Joyce" in a cup of hot chocolate - Joyce was the quintessential Mom; she was always offering people hot chocolate.
"Giles" on a book - Giles was a high school librarian in Seasons 1-3.
"Tara" on musical notes - Tara didn't really have a huge claim to fame, but in the musical episode, "Once More, With Feeling", she sang beautifully.
"Cordelia" on a heart - Xander gave Cordelia a heart-shaped necklace in "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered".
"Riley" on a potato - yes, that's a potato, not a rock. At TWoP everyone thought Riley's nose looked like a potato. Some people thought it was a rock, though, because they think he's about as exciting as a rock.
"Dawn" on a blow dryer - Dawn has shiny hair.
"Angel" on a pencil - in "Passion" Angel (well, Angelus - long story) sketches people while they sleep.
"Anya" on a hundred dollar bill - Anya is Miss Capitalism; she worked in the Magic Box and loves money.
"Faith" on that weird black thing - she has a tattoo of that design.
"Oz" on a guitar - well, Oz played the guitar.
"Jenny" on a computer disk - long story, but in "Passion" Jenny researched a spell to restore Angel (Angelus)'s soul and saved it on a disk. Angelus killed her and the disk was subsequently lost. Buffy and Willow found it in "Becoming, Part 1" and used the spell in "Becoming, Part 2".
"Spike" on a cigarette lighter - Spike smokes. And in "Gone" there was some naughty business with the lighter, which I won't go into, because then I would have to go to therapy.
"We're gonna miss this show. A lot." - this is a reference to "The Gift", in which Buffy's gravestone reads, "She saved the world. A lot."

Okay, this banner is making me tear up. But I guarantee that by tomorrow I'll be back to counting down the days until Season 4 comes out on DVD. See, when you have DVDs, it doesn't hurt so much. :)

May 24th, 2003, 1:24 a.m. - Birthday girls

Happy Birthday, Ellen and Kirsten!

May 26th, 2003, 9:12 p.m. - Traditioooooon! Tradition!

I'm the only person I know who can get sunburned when the sun is only out for 5 minutes.

Beppe and I hung out at the annual Falls Church Memorial Day festivities, or whatever you want to call them. Big FC tradition; always very crowded but a lot of fun. It was cloudy all day but the sun came out during the parade and, because I'm pale pale pale, my arms burned and my face got a little pink. Not happy.

The highlight of the day was definitely commenting on the cool "couch" (actually two armchairs) on the back of a float, then realizing that the people sitting in them were Beppe's parents. :)

May 28th, 2003, 12:40 a.m. - Birthday girl

Happy Birthday, Bronwyn!

It would be really, really nice if I weren't sunburned for my brother's wedding on Saturday. You hear that, skin? You have 3 days to get pale again!

10:14 p.m. - Woo-hoo!

Yay! My sunburn is much better.

May 29th, 2003, 12:29 a.m. - Brush with fame

I wasn't going to mention this, but here I am. I watched the new reality show Fame earlier (shut up, I was bored) and I know one of the guys on it. His name's Alex Boyd and he's from McLean, which is near Falls Church. We used to go to the same church! I've known him since middle school; he's a couple of years younger than me. I was really shocked to see him on the show! I recognized his name but hadn't seen his face yet, and when I saw him I knew it was the same guy. It's very interesting to see someone you know on national television. I'm hoping he goes far; he's a really good singer. So, you've heard it from me now - I know the guy (not well, but still) and if he becomes famous I have every right to remind you of that. :)

May 29th, 2003, 11:02 p.m. - Soon to be sleepy

Heading out bright and early (grrr) tomorrow to fly to Kentucky for my brother's wedding. It's going to be an exhausting weekend, I know. And I get to start work first thing on Monday. Hooray?
