November, 2002

November 6th, 2002, 11:36 p.m. - Something blue

Wow, I haven't written for a long time! Well, to sum up, the wedding was great and the network's been down for a little while. That was about a week's worth of news all in one sentence.

November 11th, 2002, 5:51 p.m. - Pro and con

Yesterday and today were really nice, weather-wise. Well, except for the tornados and stuff.

November 14th, 2002, 4:31 p.m. - Birthday girl

Happy Birthday, Lauren!

Wow, I'm really bad about updating this, aren't I?

November 15th, 2002, 2:19 p.m. - Grrrr

I hate it when people are so closed-minded. Oh, and thanks for making Christians look so good, too.

November 17th, 2002, 3:52 p.m. - Choices

I'm on a waiting list to get into a single in Gallup, the dorm I lived in for two years. It's very difficult to get a Gallup single; there are only four and they have their own bathrooms, so the appeal is very big. The housing office is working on updating their waiting lists, and I have to let them know whether or not I want to remain on the list. If I don't, I'll be in Hainer the rest of the year. If I do, and the room opens up, I'll automatically be moved to it.

Now, a few months ago, this would not be a problem: I would stay on the list and pray my little heart out that a room would open up. But now, I can't decide, for 2 reasons: 1) if I move to Gallup, I won't have Stupid Music Boy to deal with, but 2) if I move to Gallup, I'll become even more of a hermit, and I'll have to leave the girls on my hall behind. I'm starting to get closer to them and we're having a good time together, so leaving them would be hard. But I really would like a Gallup single! Sigh. I think I'll stay on the list. The chances of getting into one of those singles is so slim it's not even funny, so I probably won't have to worry about it anyway.

November 18th, 2002, 4:07 p.m. - Birthday girl

Happy Birthday, Heather!

I just found out that Stephen L. Carter, author of The Emperor of Ocean Park (which I read this summer) and The Culture of Disbelief is speaking at my school this Friday! I'm so excited!

6:20 p.m. - Here a Post-it, there a Post-it...

I am the Post-it Queen! I currently have three Post-its on my desk, all reminding me of different things. One says, "Post-Colonial paper", one says, "Transformed Bible Study, 7 p.m.", and one says, "Go to Windows! Stephen Carter!" (That last one makes more sense than it appears to. Windows is Windows on the World, where our school hosts different speakers--some faculty members and some people from other parts of the country--who speak on various topics.) My reliance on pieces of paper is slightly frightening, actually.

November 20th, 2002, 7:24 p.m. - In bed?

Ravenna and I got Chinese food (mmm, chicken and cashews) and for the second time in my life I got a fortune cookie with two fortunes. One says, "You have a special gift for resolving conflict", and the second one makes absolutely no sense: "Your return will be a triumphant one." Uh, my return to what?

November 21st, 2002, 10:51 p.m. - Birthday boy

Happy Birthday, Daniel!

November 22nd, 2002, 9:00 p.m. - Bargain hunting

Jenn's great find of the week: I got a copy of the Zoolander DVD for $10. I'm so thrilled!

November 23rd, 2002, 1:12 p.m. - Birthday boy

Happy Birthday, Aaron!

November 26th, 2002, 4:06 p.m. - Don't bet on it

Home for a few days. Who knows; maybe something interesting will happen around here.

November 28th, 2002, 7:34 p.m. - Mmm...turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 30th, 2002, 12:32 a.m. - Before you die...

Wow, November's over already? Not much happened, eh?

I just saw The Ring, so I'm a little freaked right now. I swear, if anyone calls me and says "7 days" I'll kill first and ask questions later.
