November, 2016
November 4th, 2016, 7:53 p.m. - The point of Martin was...?
30. The Wicked Girls (Alex Marwood)
Up next: The Killer Next Door (Alex Marwood)
November 5th, 2016, 1:20 p.m. - "Oh, so you believe your friend and your friend's wife and your own eyes over me?"
The Big Bang Theory – "The Veracity Elasticity": There were a lot of great quotes in this episode. I almost wish the lies had gone on longer, to see how far everyone could take it. Rating: 4 hidden sci-fi figurines
The Good Place – "...Someone Like Me as a Member": Apparently the show isn't doing a full season, which may be why things are moving so quickly. No complaints here! I hope we meet Shawn soon. He sounds fun. Rating: 4 karaoke performances to historical speeches
Supernatural – "American Nightmare": The first half of the episode was pretty dull, but the second half got better. Interesting that they had a girl thinking she has the devil inside her in an episode without Lucifer. Rating: 3 Wiccan candles
November 12th, 2016, 1:24 p.m. - "You are a very unhelpful level of drunk!"
Speechless – "D-A-T-E-Date?": The episode was fine, but I was bothered by Ray and his friends' attitudes toward girls, which I think Maya or Jimmy should have addressed. Yeah, I know, they're teenage boys, but come on. Rating: 3 lost pieces of luggage
Modern Family – "Grab It": Kind of unmemorable, but enough good stuff that I liked it. I hope in the future they mention that Luke, who doesn't have a lot of talents or skills, is really good at his job. Rating: 4 espressos
The Big Bang Theory – "The Brain Bowl Incubation": I liked both plots, which was nice. There were a lot of good lines in this episode. And Sheldon trying to seduce Amy was hilarious. Rating: 4 toilets Raj has never had to clean before
Supernatural – "The One You've Been Waiting For": I'm putting this in the top ten for weirdest episodes ever. Imagine being the actor playing the guy who had to channel Hitler. Imagine being that actor's agent and having to tell him he got the role, but... Rating: 3 pocket watches
November 13th, 2016, 7:56 p.m. - So no one's going to mention that her name is Cheryl Farrell?
31. The Killer Next Door (Alex Marwood)
Up next: The Darkest Secret (Alex Marwood)
November 19th, 2016, 2:05 p.m. - "Since the last time we saw you, I killed Hitler." "...Thank you?"
Brooklyn Nine-Nine – "Monster in the Closet": I've never understood the TV trope of a couple rushing to get married when there's no reasonable reason for a deadline, so I'm glad the show messed with that a little. I don't mind Pimento in small doses, but I don't need him around a ton, so him and Rosa not being married yet is fine with me. Rating: 4 balloon arches
Teen Wolf – "Memory Lost": Hi, this episode was better than 90% of the entire last season, and I am already emotional about the rest of the season, 'bye. Rating: 4 suddenly empty rooms
Speechless – "T-H-A-Thanksgiving": When will America start using Andrea Anders in a way she deserves? More Andrea Anders! I demand it! Rating: 3 big-screen TVs
Modern Family – "Thanksgiving Jamboree": Eh. Too much going on here. I only really laughed at Lily keeping the chicken at the end. Rating: 3 dead goats
The Big Bang Theory – "The Geology Elevation": I wouldn't mind seeing more of Bert. Brian Posehn is underrated and needs to be in more things. Rating: 4 motorized Stephen Hawking toys
Supernatural – "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox": Jody has long been my favorite recurring character, and Kim Rhodes is one of my favorite recurring actors, so I was thrilled to see her getting so much to do in this episode. She was great when Jody was possessed. Also, I would watch a spin-off of the twin hunters who were raised by a witch. Rating: 5 unmailed postcards
November 23rd, 2016, 6:05 p.m. - More people who can enjoy Hell with Bert Cousins
32. The Darkest Secret (Alex Marwood)
Up next: Inherit the Bones (Emily Littlejohn)
November 26th, 2016, 11:52 a.m. - "Why do you have an axe? Also, nice axe"
Brooklyn Nine-Nine – "Mr. Santiago": This was the best plot they could come up with for Jimmy Smits? I find that hard to believe. It feels like something they threw together at the last minute. Rating: 3 bets placed on contenders in a national dog show
Teen Wolf – "Superposition": I DON'T CARE ABOUT LIAM. That is all. No, wait, that's not all. Why is Claudia alive?? Rating: 4 library cards
November 27th, 2016, 12:01 p.m. - A for effort, I guess
33. Inherit the Bones (Emily Littlejohn)
Up next: Grunt (Mary Roach)
This was kind of different than I expected, so I was a little disappointed, but I still liked it for the most part. I'm already planning to read Marwood's other two books.
GROSS. But I still liked it.
Definitely the best of Marwood's three. Some great twists here. Dumb title, though.
I found very few things about this book that were unique. Nowadays, a detective novel needs to have a much bigger hook to impress me.
