October, 2021

October 2nd, 2021, 2:09 p.m. - Sigh

44. We Were Never Here (Andrea Bartz)
Not really worth the time I spent waiting for it to arrive at the library. There's a good twist toward the end, but that's really it.

Up next: Apples Never Fall (Liane Moriarty)

October 7th, 2021, 5:45 p.m. - Please stop with the apples

45. Apples Never Fall (Liane Moriarty)
Me before reading this: "Why aren't more people talking about how there's a new Liane Moriarty?"
Me after reading this: "Oh, that's why."

Up next: Fuzz (Mary Roach)

October 16th, 2021, 3:32 p.m. - Should I be concerned that I was so interested in the sections on poison? Nah, it's fine. It's probably fine

46. Fuzz (Mary Roach)
No other author could make me want to read about how humans can co-exist with wild animals or the efforts underway to keep them separate. Roach is magical.

Up next: My Heart Is a Chainsaw (Stephen Graham Jones)

October 23rd, 2021, 4:36 p.m. - Final Girls 101

47. My Heart Is a Chainsaw (Stephen Graham Jones)
This was a really entertaining twist on the slasher genre. Jade's an awesome protagonist. There were a few too many characters, which made it hard to keep everyone straight, but other than that, thumbs up.

Up next: The Last Thing He Told Me (Laura Dave)

October 29th, 2021, 4:51 p.m. - Not sure about that ending

48. The Last Thing He Told Me (Laura Dave)
This started out okay, then got really good, then got just okay again. Quite the roller-coaster!

Up next: Several People Are Typing (Calvin Kasulke)
