September, 2002

September 1st, 2002, 11:44 p.m. - Boo

I hope no one's trying to send me email because Hotmail is being stupid. It's been down all day and is making me mad. Grrrrr.

11:46 p.m. - Oops

Okay, just kidding. It's working now.

September 3rd, 2002, 10:08 p.m. - Hi!

Yay! Erin's visiting!

September 5th, 2002, 5:56 p.m. - Something old, something new

For a beautifully written essay on the past year, read this.

Random humor: Ravenna, a girl on my floor, put a picture of her psychotic ex-boyfriend up on the back of the door to our hall, and today she found magnetic darts to throw at it. I guess our hall will have a new bonding activity.

Current mood/state: tired and hot
Temperature outside: really nice, but my room is hot
Listening to: Caedmon's Call, In the Company of Angels

September 10th, 2002, 10:00 a.m. - I want money. That's what I want

Hey, school, stop giving me money! Heh heh, just kidding. I'll shut up now.

2:52 p.m. - Confusion

Why does my SoBe cap say "H to the Lizzo"?

September 11th, 2002, 5:02 p.m. - What to say?

One year.

"Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, Thy pardon, Lord. Where there is despair, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, let there be light. Where there is sadness, let there be joy. O divine master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, and it is in pardoning that we are pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. O, Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace. Amen."
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

September 17th, 2002, 11:41 p.m. - So bored

Move it along, folks, nothing to see here.

September 19th, 2002, 9:53 a.m. - Yay!

I think today is going to be very nice. First of all, the weather is cooling off--I woke up freezing this morning and got to turn off my fan for the first time since I've been back at school. Second, my 1 o'clock class is cancelled, so I only have one more class to go. Third, I'm going to Leanne, Kim, Laura, and Ryan's tonight for a housewarming party, so I get to hang out with some cool people. Things are looking up....

1:05 p.m. - So much for fall

Dang it! Welcome back, fan.

September 21st, 2002, 3:12 p.m. - Yep, I'm a dork

Guess who brought the wrong printer cord to school with her? Oops.

September 24th, 2002, 9:57 a.m. - Stupid Hainer

It's 50 degrees outside and my room's still warm. Arrrrrrrrrr!

September 25th, 2002, 2:16 p.m. - Randomness

Here's what I learned today: according to Encarta Online, on my birthday, Stonewall Jackson died (in 1868), the first transcontinental railroad was completed (1869), Neville Chamberlain resigned as Prime Minister of Britain (1940), and Nelson Mandela was sworn in as president of South Africa (1994). My birthday is also Micronesia's Independence Day and South Carolina's Confederate Memorial Day (how nice). And as if that weren't enough, I share my birthday with Fred Astaire, U2's Bono (well, Encarta didn't tell me that; I already knew), and John Wilkes Booth. Yeah, thanks.

4:28 p.m. - What the--?

Hey, school? You have to have 95 credits to be a senior. I have 82. That means I'm a junior. So stop bugging me about senior orientation, mmkay?

September 27th, 2002, 11:24 p.m. - College vs. high school

When I was in high school I looked forward to the weekends because it meant I didn't have to go to school (obviously). But now that I'm in college, I know that I'm going to be doing work all weekend, so it's not quite as appealing. Grrr.

Current mood/state: happy that I can at least sleep in tomorrow
Temperature outside: getting cooler
Listening to: soundtrack to the musical episode of Buffy, "Once More, With Feeling"

September 30th, 2002, 12:41 a.m. - Sigh

On Saturday it took me three hours to write a three-page paper for Political Theory. I don't know what was wrong with me. I think I just wasn't in a motivated-time-to-do-schoolwork mood. Basically, I spent the entire afternoon on something that should have taken an hour or so to do. And then yesterday I did all of the rest of my work in just a couple of hours. What's up with that? Very strange.

Wow, September was really boring. On to October!

6:02 p.m. - Grrrr

My school? Still stupid. Not only can people not spell my last name right (it's right there in the records, geniuses!), but now I'm getting mail addressed to "Jessica". Hello! My name is not Jessica! You are not making me place much faith in your leadership people!
