September 5th, 2003, 11:32 a.m. - Losing it

The problems with the Internet are starting to drive me crazy....

Friday Five:

1. What housekeeping chore(s) do you hate doing the most? Laundry!

2. Are there any that you like or don't mind doing? Not really. :)

3. Do you have a routine throughout the week or just clean as it's needed? Heh. I don't usually clean until I realize, "Hey, I haven't cleaned in awhile; I should probably do that." We have people who clean the hall and the bathroom. We're spoiled.

4. Do you have any odd cleaning/housekeeping quirks or rules? Not really. (Is this my most boring Friday Five ever or what?)

5. What was the last thing you cleaned? Myself. :)

September 8th, 2003, 4:47 p.m. - Evil Internet

The bad news: The Internet is still down in my dorm. I'm not even going to say anything about it again until it comes back up. The good news: my only Tuesday class is cancelled tomorrow. Sweet!

September 12th, 2003, 11:51 a.m. - The name game

The weather has been really nice around here lately. But I would trade it in for the FREAKING INTERNET TO WORK AGAIN. Just kidding. Maybe.

Friday Five:

1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed? Yep, it's the same.

2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be? Interesting question. When I was younger I wanted to change my name to Stephanie for some reason. And now I often say I want to change my name because there are so many other Jennifers. I'd probably change it to something a little less common.

3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?) My parents named me Jennifer Michelle specifically because they didn't know any other Jennifers or Michelles. (Actually, I don't think I've ever met another Jennifer Michelle.)

4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why? For some reason, I love really common names like Sarah, Rachel, Anna, Matthew, Joshua, and Michael. I also like the names Abby, Emily, Lucy, and Maggie. I don't really hate any names.

5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com accurate? How or how isn't it? Except for the parts about being candid and creating the wrong impression, it's very accurate. It's especially accurate with regards to having "too many ideas on the go" and being generous (at least, I think so) and understanding.

September 16th, 2003, 4:31 p.m. - Hooray!

The Internet works! Woo hoo!!!

September 18th, 2003, 1:39 p.m. - Rain, rain, you don't necessarily have to go away if you don't want to

Hello, Hurricane Isabel! It's nice of you to join us! You got me out of my 4:30 class today and might get me out of classes tomorrow. This is a very eventful semester, isn't it?

5:19 p.m. - The saddest day ever

They closed Buffy Trivia. I'm going to go cry now.

8:30 p.m. - ...Also the happiest day ever

To (sort of) quote Willow in "Two to Go", "No more tears." One of the wonderful trivia players set up a message board for us to play. Yay!!!

September 21st, 2003, 8:26 p.m. - Music...makes the people...come together...

Friday Five is a little late because I haven't had the Internet for a few days, but here it is:

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why? Sarah McLachlan, because her lyrics are beautiful, her voice is beautiful, and I just love her music in general.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why? Two words: Avril. Lavigne. Can't take it anymore.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person? Probably. She seems like a nice person.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show? Hee hee hee. I went to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert and an Amy Grant concert when I was in middle school. They were both pretty good shows, I guess. :)

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music? To me, downloading free music is like listening to the radio. We don't pay for the radio, so why should we pay to download music off the Internet? I probably just got myself in trouble, didn't I?

September 24th, 2003, 10:34 a.m. - Bennifer who?

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only person in the universe who really just doesn't care about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. I don't care if they get married. I don't care if they break up. I don't care if they're already married. I don't care at all. So stop telling me about it!

September 26th, 2003, 11:53 a.m. - Bleh

No Friday Five this week. No Internet in the dorms right now. Grrrr....

September 29th, 2003, 6:08 p.m. - Don't tease me

Internet is fixed. For now. I'm not getting too comfortable this time. I've been hurt before, you know.

September 30th, 2003, 11:29 p.m. - The room is spinning! It's like a ride!

I had two very strange experiences today, both within about twenty minutes of each other. I was on my way to a doctor's appointment in Bryn Mawr to take care of a problem I've been having with my ear for a few weeks (long, long, long story). I braked for a red light on Route 30, the main road through Main Line Pennsylvania, and felt a jolt from behind. The car behind me had hit me - my third fender bender, but the first where I was driving and it wasn't my fault. (No comment.) The girl driving the other car looked really embarrassed and I signalled for her to follow me into a parking lot. She was extremely apologetic and I told her it wasn't a problem. There was, fortunately, absolutely no damage to either of our cars. I don't even think my bumper was scratched. (Even if it had been, I wouldn't have noticed. My bumper is very scratch-prone. Again, no comment. I'm a safe driver, really!) The girl kept apologizing and I kept telling her it was fine. I didn't even bother to exchange info with her; there was no reason to. I just kept telling her that I was glad there were no damages and that no one was hurt. As we were getting back into our cars she noticed my Eastern sticker on the back window and said, "You go to Eastern? Me, too." Hee hee hee! I don't know why I think that's so funny, but I do.

So, about twenty minutes later I'm in the doctor's office and he's just flushed my ear with cold water. I've had my ear flushed about 5 times in the past few weeks and every time the doctor or nurse flushing it has told me I might feel dizzy afterwards. The first 5 times nothing happened, but this time it hit me hard. It was very surreal. I've always thought that when people say "the room was spinning" they're exaggerating, but that's definitely what it felt like. I don't ever want to have to feel like that again. It's too weird.
