September, 2011
September 1st, 2011, 8:02 p.m. - CBS goes back to the well again
September 2nd, 2011, 8:54 a.m. - Give Kai her own show!
11:06 p.m. - What was the point of that? (x5)
21. Close Your Eyes (Amanda Eyre Ward)
Up next: Vanished (Joseph Finder)
September 3rd, 2011, 4:36 p.m. - Awww, I wanna watch The Sav, Anya, and Holly J. Show
Degrassi - "Take a Bow"/"Dead and Gone": I didn't realize until this week that some of my favorite characters aren't going to be on the show anymore. Now I'm sad. Especially considering some of the people we're still stuck with. And since there's a possibility Clare and Eli will get back together. Bleh. Rating: 3 handprints
Project Runway - "The Art of the Matter": I don't like anyone this season. Except maybe Anya. Everyone else is annoying or outright jerky. That's not a good sign. Rating: 3 initials carved in tree skirts
11:41 p.m. - Me and Nick Heller, sitting in a tree
22. Vanished (Joseph Finder)
Up next: Buried Secrets (Joseph Finder)
September 8th, 2011, 11:38 p.m. - Sorry if this gets that song stuck in your head
September 10th, 2011, 3:43 p.m. - Shut up, Josh
Project Runway - "Can't We Just All Get Along?": Shut up, Josh.
September 14th, 2011, 11:18 p.m. - Me and Nick Heller, sitting in a tree, part 2
23. Buried Secrets (Joseph Finder)
Up next: The Accident (Linwood Barclay)
September 16th, 2011, 6:31 p.m. - I think that's the last of the dead weight going out the door
"'These Boobs, to Me, Are Trouble'"
September 18th, 2011, 11:53 a.m. - I've always said that if there's one thing Survivor needs more of, it's spoken-word poets
Ringer - "Pilot": I liked it! I know a couple of people who weren't impressed, but I thought it was well-paced and there was enough of a mystery to keep me interested. Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar + Nestor Carbonell + Jason Dohring in future episodes = me watching. Rating: 4 green-screen shots of the ocean
Survivor - "I Need Redemption": I like this season's cast, though I don't see the need for Ozzy or Coach. Coach is amusing, yes, but Ozzy...I've never gotten the appeal. And he clearly has questionable taste. Right now I'm keeping my eye on Albert, who I don't think said one word this week, but who singlehandedly pulled someone up the wall during the immunity challenge. And also Keith, because I randomly predicted him to win in the RNO roundtable. Rating: 3 regretted tattoos
America's Next Top Model - "Nicki Minaj": Okay, first of all, Brittany going home first was total bull, and everyone knows it. But the fact that there are still a bunch of people left who I love is awesome. I'm rooting for Laura, Kayla, Allison, and Sheena. Rating: 4 Little Bo Peep dresses
Project Runway - "What Women Want": I feel like all the weaklings have been weeded out, and we're about to see the real contenders battle it out. Team Anya! Rating: 3 gigantic pockets
September 21st, 2011, 11:40 p.m. - Can the next one be about Rona and Lamont?
24. The Accident (Linwood Barclay)
And this is a great one - well-paced, with lots of twists and enough characters to keep you guessing about who the bad guys are. I didn't call it at all.
Up next: The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern)
September 22nd, 2011, 11:07 p.m. - The most annoying guy is gone! Other annoying people remain
September 25th, 2011, 6:32 p.m. - "Don't touch my gurney!"
How I Met Your Mother - "The Best Man"/"The Naked Truth": So here's my theory, based on pretty much nothing: Barney's going to marry Victoria. I just don't think he's going to wind up with either Robin or Nora. If it were Nora, why would she want to see Ted before the wedding? And if it were Robin, then Lily would be her maid of honor, and Robin would never pick out that magenta dress Lily's wearing in the flashbacks. Why else bring Victoria back, other than to throw in a twist? Watch me be right. Or, more likely, completely wrong. Rating: 4 40s
Glee - "The Purple Piano Project": Tom Jones? Really, guys? Whatever, the rest was good. They should do "Hairspray" instead of "West Side Story." Mercedes could play Maybelle (because obviously Rachel would play Tracy), Quinn could play Mrs. Von Tussle, Brittany could play Penny, Santana could play Amber, and Artie could play Corny (he would make a good emcee). See, I've already cast it! Rating: 4 glitter bombs
Ringer - "She's Ruining Everything": This has become a fun little guilty pleasure; there's a lot of things to enjoy about it. I'm interested to see where it goes. I think this show is smarter than we all think it is. Rating: 3 trunks
Survivor - "He Has Demons": Brandon, SHUT UP. That is all. Rating: 3 tattoos
America's Next Top Model - "Ashlee Simpson": What a stupid photo shoot. No one uses models in ads for hot dogs. And what's appealing about the mess some of the girls were making? By the way, if Bianca wins this cycle, I will cry. I will cry like someone gave me Bre's haircut (which, let's be honest, was basically Sundai's haircut). Rating: 4 hot dogs
Modern Family - "Dude Ranch"/"When Good Kids Go Bad": I L'd OL more times than Alex would have found appropriate. New Lily was awesome! I hope Dylan comes back in the future; he's hilarious. Rating: 5 pop-up photo albums
Project Runway - "Image is Everything": Yeah, 'bye, Olivier. No one's going to miss you. Rating: 3 pairs of red jeans
Grey's Anatomy - "Free Falling"/"She's Gone": I love that this show has as many serious moments as it does humorous ones. "Don't touch my gurney!" has been cracking me up for days now. (It's possible I need to get out more.) The question is, what will this season's theme be? Reunion? Growth? April sucking? Who knows? Rating: 4 ccs of epinephrine
The Office - "The List": A good start to the season, especially after how disappointing I thought last season was. James Spader is a good fit for the show. And really, the supporting cast just makes everything wonderful. Rating: 4 firecrackers
10:16 p.m. - I wonder what happens if you do call 1-800-CONFUCIUS?
September 28th, 2011, 10:53 p.m. - I subbed for Survivor. BE HAPPY ABOUT IT
September 30th, 2011, 6:25 p.m. - Ack, week of three recaps!
I liked this at first, but then Ward just threw a bunch of pointless stuff in there. Also, the jacket copy is misleading and even partly wrong, so I think I was expecting something I didn't get. Either way, I don't think I'll be reading any more of Ward's books.
A fun, well-paced thriller with an extremely likable main character. I must get me some more Finders.
Dumb title, great read. More Nick Heller! I need more!
Clearly I'm in a thriller phase.
