September, 2017

September 2nd, 2017, 1:18 p.m. - R.I.P. Littlefinger. Ha ha, not really. You don't deserve any peace

Game of Thrones – "The Dragon and the Wolf": This wasn't on the same level as most finales, but it was satisfying, especially since Littlefinger is GONE. HOORAY! I look forward to the next (last, sadly) season. Rating: 4 still-moving hands that Qyburn will probably use for something weird

So You Think You Can Dance – Top 8 Perform: We're getting a lot of great routines this season. I'm really glad the judges immediately saved Koine, because her landing in the bottom three was bull. Her over Taylor, who has no personality? Ugh. Rating: 4 umbrellas

September 4th, 2017, 6:03 p.m. - Blind spots

28. The Good Daughter (Karin Slaughter)
Longer than it should have been, with more time spent on the 28-year-old crime than the recent one, which didn't get enough attention. But still, a solid Slaughter book. P.S. Shut up, Rusty.

Up next: You Play the Girl (Carina Chocano)

September 9th, 2017, 1:15 p.m. - America, you're dangerously close to losing the chance to vote on anything ever again

Teen Wolf – "Triggers": I'm bored. Bring on Jackson. Rating: 3 broken noses

So You Think You Can Dance – Top 7 Perform: Poor Mark. I like Kaylee, but she should have been the one to go. Still, there are so many talented dancers left that it's going to be a tough decision every time. Rating: 4 times I rolled my eyes at Tyce, as usual

September 12th, 2017, 8:04 p.m. - STOP SAYING "GIRLS" WHEN YOU MEAN "WOMEN"

29. You Play the Girl (Carina Chocano)
This was a bit of a slog at times, but it gave me insights into some things I hadn't thought about. I do wish Chocano had talked more about pieces of media that are positive for women.

Up next: Chemistry (Weike Wang)

September 16th, 2017, 1:22 p.m. - "So, what, you moved into a cave and took a vow of uselessness?"

Teen Wolf – "Werewolves of London": Jackson and Ethan are here, and I'm still bored. Is it just me? I think there's just too much going on. Let's get Stiles and Derek back already. Rating: 3 broken pictures

So You Think You Can Dance – Top 6 Perform: I would have put Logan in over Lex (even though I like them both a lot), but other than that, the final four is pretty solid. I'm still pulling for Koine. Rating: 3 giant metal cage...things

September 17th, 2017, 6:17 p.m. - This was...fine

30. Chemistry (Weike Wang)
I guess I don't get the rave reviews. It was good, but not terrific.

Up next: Tornado Weather (Deborah E. Kennedy)

September 23rd, 2017, 1:29 p.m. - "Why don't I ever listen to people when they talk about themselves? No, it's annoying and I'm right not to"

Teen Wolf – "Broken Glass": Now that I know what's going on, the show is a lot more enjoyable. Now let's get out there and beat those thinly veiled metaphors for racists! Rating: 4 MRI machines that apparently just anyone can run

So You Think You Can Dance – Top 4 Perform: Lex and Taylor are together! Plot twist! But other than that, this was a clip show. Meh. Rating: 3 pizza boxes

The Good Place – "Everything Is Great!": I was surprised they went through trial 2 and then ditched it all in one episode, but that lead to some really interesting stuff this season. This is a show where I enjoy watching everyone, no matter who's on screen, so I'm excited to see how the reboot affects them. Rating: 4 tear-away suits for fast removal when you're heading to the gym

September 25th, 2017, 8:54 p.m. - Also...fine

31. Tornado Weather (Deborah E. Kennedy)
I spent half the book trying to keep the characters straight. So that was fun.

Up next: Young Jane Young (Gabrielle Zevin)

September 30th, 2017, 1:30 p.m. - "My tough prison beard hasn't fully grown in yet. Just give me six or seven more years"

Teen Wolf – "The Wolves of War": I didn't like a lot of this season, but this was a really satisfying finale. They also left it open for a reboot, a movie, or something else, which they've already discussed doing. Over all, a nice ending. Rating: 4 eyes getting gouged out (thanks, Scott)

So You Think You Can Dance – The Finale: Of course it was Lex. Of course. But it should have been Koine. Rating: 3 mispronunciations of Koine's name

Brooklyn Nine-Nine – "The Big House, Part 1": Hilarious episode, strong start to the season, excellent use of guest stars. Nothing to complain about here. Rating: 5 packs of ramen

Speechless – "W-E-WE'RE B-A-BACK!": I didn't realize how much I missed this show until I watched this episode. I hope its second season is as strong as its first. This is one of the most consistently funny shows on TV right now. Rating: 4 letters not seen until it was too late

Modern Family – "Lake Life": Alex has been my favorite character for a long time, but Haley had the best lines in this episode. Sarah Hyland is the show's MVP this week. Rating: 4 huge bird-shaped rafts

The Good Place – "Dance Dance Resolution": And Ted Danson is this show's MVP of the week. I giggled through the whole episode, and mostly at his lines. I can't wait to see the direction the show takes this season. Rating: 5 VHS tapes of Cannonball Run

Will and Grace – "11 Years Later": Apparently I'm the only person who didn't like this episode. Do better next week, please. Rating: 3 "make America gay again" hats
