"Rashard and Wallace Go to White Castle"
At the Hut, Veronica brings Wallace cake and they discuss his plans to come clean about Rashard Rucker’s role in the hit-and-run (see “Donut Run”). He tells her that she doesn’t have to be involved, but she replies, “My boyfriend just fled the country with his dead ex-girlfriend’s baby. I need a project.” Keith heads the sheriff’s department and tells Inga that he’s being audited, so he needs to look at old salary and expense documents. While she’s busy finding them, Keith listens to the interviews he conducted in “One Angry Veronica” and uses the information in them to get security codes and get bus crash interviews from an evidence room. At school the next day, Wallace and Veronica note that Sayers, the reporter from Chicago, hasn’t published anything about Rashard yet. Weevil tracks down Molly Fitzpatrick and confronts her about her relationship with Felix. She admits that they were seeing each other but her family didn’t know anything about it. They met at St. Mary’s, where one of her uncles is a priest. Nathan (last seen in “Blast from the Past”) calls Wallace early the next morning to tell him that, according to Sayers’ article, Rashard and the two other kids in the car are saying that Wallace was driving the night of the hit-and-run.
At school, Veronica is surprised that Wallace still thinks Rashard is “cool,” but Wallace thinks that Rashard and the others are lying because of his uncle/manager Monte. He notes that Rashard will be in town soon, since UCLA wants to recruit him, so he might be able to talk to him alone. Veronica is skeptical that Rashard will want to talk. Jackie (also last seen in “Blast from the Past”) approaches and awkwardly tries to invite the other two to hang out with her. “I’m busy, but you guys go ahead,” Wallace says. After Jackie leaves, he tells Veronica that he’s trying to figure out if he can deal with someone like Jackie in his life right now. Veronica tells him that he really needs a lawyer; she may not know a good one, but she does know one. Later, Cliff makes some calls at Mars Investigations and tells Wallace that in five days he is to turn himself in and be transferred to the Chicago police. Veronica notes that if they prove his innocence before then, he won’t have to. Wallace is in favor of this, especially since it means he’ll be able to play in the next basketball game against Pan High. Veronica tells him that a former Neptune student is now a Bruins cheerleader and says that they can probably get to Rashard at the Booster dinner.
In the process of shredding photos, Veronica finds one of Terrence holding hands with Ms. Dumas (see “Normal is the Watchword”). She takes the opportunity to tell Keith about Terrence’s gambling problems and the bug she placed in Lamb’s office (see “Blast from the Past”). At the Neptune Grand, Logan and Weevil discuss the Fitzpatricks and their connection to St. Mary’s. Weevil suspects that the family passes money and drugs back and forth in the confessional. He doesn’t realize that a man is watching as he leaves the suite. After the Booster dinner, Rashard and a couple of cheerleaders get into a limo, which Veronica guides to a hotel where Wallace is waiting. Before they get too far, Rashard’s uncle kicks the girls out and gets in. Veronica tries to alert Wallace to the change in plans, but he doesn’t answer his phone. When they arrive at the hotel, Monte prevents Wallace from talking to Rashard and threatens to call Sayers. After the Ruckers leave, Wallace remembers that they went to White Castle right before the hit-and-run, and the guy running the drive-through might remember that Rashard was driving. At the Hut (where it’s karaoke night), Veronica serves the lead singer of Spoon, who repays her by then singing Elvis Costello’s “Veronica.”
Veronica joins Weevil, suspecting that he needs a favor. Of course he does: he wants her to bug the confessional at St. Mary’s. She’s surprised to see Logan sitting nearby and amused by the fact that he and Weevil are working together. She agrees to put a camera in the confessional but not record any audio. At home, Keith listens to post-bus crash interviews, learning that, according to Dick, the bus smelled. He and Dick, Sr. also knew Moran (see “Driver Ed” and “Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang”). An interview with Cassidy relays the same information. Veronica arrives home and Keith tells her that he thinks the rat was placed on the bus to get the 09ers off, since they would be able to afford a different form of transportation. At school the next day, Veronica voices over that it is suspicious that only non-09ers (with the exception of Meg) were on the bus when it crashed. Wallace tells her that Nathan found out who the White Castle drive-through guy is, but he hasn’t been seen in days. The surveillance video from that night is also missing. Veronica suspects that Monte paid him off. Later, she heads to St. Mary’s and, feeling very guilty, plants the bug in the confessional. She winds up chatting with Molly’s uncle, who quotes Scripture about overcoming evil with good.
Wallace and Veronica prepare to crash a frat party to talk to Rashard, but Veronica winds up being unable to go, since the frat is an African-American one. While she waits in the car, Wallace attempts to talk to Rashard, who doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. Later, Wallace spots Jackie flirting with Rashard and tries to warn her to stay away from him. Rashard has him escorted to a closet and leaves to go to a club in L.A. with Jackie. Wallace leaves the closet and runs into Monte, who tells him to keep quiet about the hit-and-run. Wallace tells him that Jackie took Rashard to a club, adding that he knows where she likes to go. Veronica follows Jackie and Rashard to the club, where the deputy/bouncer she met in “Donut Run” works. After swapping Monte’s cell phone for another, she goes back to St. Mary’s to retrieve her camera. When she looks at the footage back at home, she doesn’t see anything out of the ordinary. After watching again, she shows it to Weevil at school and tells him that Liam Fitzpatrick left a package in the confessional and Thumper retrieved it later. At lunch, Veronica gives Wallace Monte’s cell phone so he can send Nathan the number of the drive-through guy. Jackie joins them and they all celebrate their victory. She tries again to make plans with Wallace, but he’s moved on to his friend Jane (see “Driver Ed”).
Weevil summons all of the bikers to an industrial site and confronts Thumper for working with the Fitzpatricks. Rather than deny it, Thumper cops to it - and adds that the other bikers have been doing the same. He notes that Weevil is working with an enemy as well, since he’s been spotted hanging out with Logan. The bikers beat Weevil up, then leave him alone with Thumper and Hector. Thumper sends Hector off with Weevil’s bike as Weevil realizes that Thumper killed Felix. Thumper shuts him up by showing him a video on his phone of Weevil beating up Moran. Nathan finds the drive-through guy in a hotel and confronts him. Weevil is forced to take the bus to school and Dick and some other 09ers hassle him about it. Before his basketball game, Wallace gets a call from Monte and boasts about his victory. At home, Keith listens to an interview between Lamb and Gia in which Gia reveals that she and Woody also knew Moran. She also didn’t take the bus home because Woody told her not to. When Veronica gets home, she and Keith see a news report that Terrence has been arrested in connection with the bus crash.

Veronica: “Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the Forum Suites.”
